Cruising from Alaska

Introduction

Cruising in Alaska means thundering glaciers, temperate rainforests, rugged coastlines, majestic peaks, untamed wildlife, and so much more.

And today's cruise ships are designed to enhance this extraordinary scenery so the journey to each port of call is half the fun. Thousands of balcony staterooms afford cruisers panoramic access to Alaska's great outdoors. Great Alaska attractions include jaw dropping bald eagles soaring by, killer whales breaching, and grizzlies grazing along the shore. Ease into the warmth of an outdoor whirlpool and watch glacier floes tumble into the sea. See an unforgettable sunset and savor a gourmet dinner in the comfort of a luxurious shipboard restaurant. And, just before bed, gaze up at a canopy of stars from a seat on your staterooms private balcony.

Weather in Alaska

Alaska cruising is seasonal. Generally beginning in May, cruise ships ply the Inside Passage and Gulf of Alaska until September. June, July, and August are the warmest months with temperatures averaging from 50 to 80 during the day and cooler at night. Late May is a particularly good choice because snow still covers mountain tops and yet the weather is typically mild.
