Vancouver: 2010 Winter Olympics


Overview

Vancouver will host to the Winter Olympics and Paralympics in February and March 2010. It is a great opportunity to combine a holiday with some of the most exciting sporting events in the world!

The main events include alpine and cross country skiing, bobsleigh, figure skating, ice hockey, snowboarding and ski jumping. Even if you don’t have a ticket just by being in the city, you can soak up the atmosphere and excitement from the fans, athletes, and locals celebrating and enjoying the events.

Vancouver has plenty to offer tourists in terms of culture and entertainment. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with plenty of parks and botanical gardens, and art galleries.

The fun starts early during the Cultural Olympiad where all types of artists will gather in Vancouver to entertain with plays and street theatre, digital art installations, music and dance. ‘With Glowing Hearts’ is the motto for the Olympics and comes from the Canadian National Anthem “With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free!”

The Olympic Torch relay began on Oct 30th 2009 and will make its way thousands of miles across Canada to light the Olympic Cauldron in Vancouver for Feb 12th  2010.
