Molly Malone stands as an iconic figure, gracing the bustling streets of Dublin City Centre on Suffolk Street. Known as a must-see attraction for tourists exploring Ireland, her image has now found a transatlantic home in Boston, Massachusetts.

Orán McGonagle, hailing from Co. Donegal, and William McCarthy, a proud Dubliner, who co-own the beloved ‘The Dubliner Pub’ situated on Centre Plaza in Boston. Driven by a passion to infuse their establishment with an essence of “true Irish heritage and authenticity,” the dynamic duo set out on a remarkable quest—to commission a life-sized replica of the cherished Molly Malone. This replica would not only pay homage to Irish culture but also serve as a heartfelt tribute to their roots.

They entrusted a skilled Texas-based sculptor with the task, providing detailed photographs of the original statue. With remarkable precision and artistry, the sculptor painstakingly crafted a lifelike replica, commencing the process with a clay model that evolved into the final bronze statue.

Once she was completed, McGonagle and McCarthy proudly positioned the replica outside their pub, strategically placing her as a tribute to the original. Their intention was clear: to honor the beloved figure of Molly Malone and rekindle her story. Through this gesture, they aimed to create a captivating atmosphere, welcoming visitors to embrace the essence of Irish heritage and encouraging the celebration of Molly’s legacy.
