Florida Fun

LEGOLAND Florida…One of my Favourite Parks!

LEGOLAND Florida is only a 45 minute drive from International Drive in Orlando and is definitely worth the visit if you are planning a trip to the empire of fun! LEGOLAND is the ideal place for families with children aged between 2 and 12 but like most who visit this part of the world, the inner child surfaces in all of us so everyone in the family is sure to have an amazing time here!

The Lego Movie has put Lego even more firmly back on the cool map along with Lego Chima, Lego Star Wars, the Lego cartoons, and the Lego games for the Xbox, DS and Wii. And with the newly established Lego Hotel right beside the park it makes for a great, and entertaining stay in Winter Haven.

Like all parks in Florida, the service and attention to detail is next to none at LEGOLAND. There are plenty of Lego shops, restaurants and facilities throughout the park. At the back of the park there is a LEGOLAND water park with wave pools, chaser slides, a build-a-raft river ride and a joker soaker ride. We found that enjoying the water park was a great way to cool down in the Florida heat so we recommend you bring your togs!

For the little ones the DUPLO Valley area is the place to start with when you go to LEGOLAND! Like all areas in the park there is a play and build space, which is a nice place for your little ones to interact with the other children. My favourite area of LEGOLAND was Lego Miniland where you get to see magnificent LEGOLAND creations of Las Vegas, NYC and DC all made up alongside the Star Wars Area and Kennedy Space Station. I also loved the Land of Adventure as the Coastersaurus ride and the Beetle Bounce ride were definitely the two rides my stomach could handle! My son’s favourite place in the park was Lego City where he went to the Driving School and got his license! He then took a boat ride at the Boating School followed by a short flight around the city at the Flying School. He really enjoyed the whole experience!

The World of Chima is a new enough addition to the park and it’s another great attraction! Lego Kingdom with the Royal Joust Ride and Merlin’s Challenge are also two more great attractions worth trying and visiting!

For me, I just found LEGOLAND such a great family friendly park that had lots of interactive places to spend the day. It didn’t seem to be as busy as some of the other parks in Orlando, which made it very relaxing for a stroll around. A little tip for you is to hire a buggy if you don’t have one, as it comes in handy for tired legs and heavy bags! I also recommend that when you are leaving the park, pop into the Lego Hotel for a look around! Here the children get to meet Lego characters and there is a great Lego play space as well!
